In 2003, Oscar Linares began his training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Mike Ortiz, who is well known for introducing the sport to the United States. Oscar competed in several tournaments under the instruction of Ortiz and went beyond his normal training to become experienced in advanced self-defense and representative training. In 2006, Oscar was asked to be an official representative of Erick Nolan’s (Bakersfield, California) International Jiu-Jitsu Association and now ranks as a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To achieve his dream of passing on the spirit and sport to others, Oscar began teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to all ages. He has also taught classes for Ultimate Training Academy, owned by Big John McCarthy, the number one UFC referee in the world and a UFC official. Oscar has trained with the best in the UFC industry: Hector Pena, 13 world title Muia Thai Kickboxing; Mario Aiole, 3rd degree black belt Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu; Jamie Walsh, UFC Mix Martial Arts conditioning; Jim Johnson, world class heavy weight wrestler and Mixed Martial Arts; and Jeff Baker, two time state wrestling champion. Through learning and teaching, Oscar compiled a competitive team of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students that took top honors at tournaments across Southern California. In teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Oscar believes people of all ages and skill levels can be successful and excel both mentally and physically. As the world of Mixed Martial Arts continues to evolve, Oscar looks forward to contributing his skills and knowledge to Stand Up Training Academy in Santa Clarita, California. This is where he currently trains youth Mixed Martial Arts, conditioning for Stand Up Kings, and new students.

Oscar is assisting Head Coach Andy Campbell and the Golden Valley Football team with advanced conditioning and accelerated fitness training.
